Update: No Threat After Suspicious Package Reported At Stow Shopping Center

After several hours of investigation, authorities determined there was no threat to the public after a suspicious package was reported at the Stow Shopping Plaza, authorities said.

Authorities responded to a call about the package at 117 Great Road after workers noticed the item around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, authorities said.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Square was called to assess the item, which was determined to not pose any threat to the public around 1:15 p.m., authorities said. 

“We appreciate the assistance from Maynard Police and Fire, Boxborough Fire and Massachusetts State Police in working to determine this item was not a threat,” said Stow Police Chief Michael Sallese. “We want to remind residents and community members that if you see something, say something.” 

Authorities did not disclose what the package was exactly. The incident is being investigated further by Stow Police.
